Jodi MacLennan obituary

Jodi S. MacLennan age 68 of Prescott, died peacefully Saturday, November 13th, 2021, at her residence with her family by her side. Jodi was born in Mankato, MN on December 29,1952; the daughter of Marion and Jack Shaffer and was raised in Minnesota Lake, MN. After high school, Jodi went on to study nursing at Gutstavus Adlophus in St. Peter, Mn., and Abbott-Northwestern School of nursing in Minneapolis. She graduated with a three-year diploma as a registered nurse.  She later completed her BSN through the University of Phoenix, AZ and graduated magna cum laude.

Jodi’s nursing career followed a 17-year path in long – term care and 33 years in community services for people with developmental disabilities living in residential homes. Of the 33 years, Jodi owned and operated her own provider company for 23 years. Jodi enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing with her husband, gardening, and was passionate about cooking and politics.

Jodi is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marion Shaffer and grandparents. Additionally, she is preceded in death by Stephen J. Abdella, The Honorary Mayor of St. Paul, Park, Randal J. Most, along with stepsons Michael and Keith MacLennan.

Surviving Jodi is her husband, John MacLennan, son Christopher (Quinn Kennedy-Abdella) Abdella; daughters Tammy Powell and Natalie Most; son Jason Most; and three grandchildren. She is further survived by her two brothers: John A. Shaffer (Aleta) and Judd S. Shaffer (Michelle); stepchildren: Lynn (John) Moe, Kathleen (Glenn) Gazelle, William (Jenna) MacLennan, David MacLennan, and John (Lori) MacLennan.

Memorial service will be 11AM, Friday November 19th at The Old Ptaceks Event Center  in Prescott. A celebration of life will follow the services. A visitation will also be one hour prior from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers, gifts and memorials are be directed to the MDS/Leukemia Society and Organization of America (www.donate.lls.org). Funeral and cremation services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Prescott.
