John James Salmon

John James Salmon, age 92 of Hudson, passed away December 21, 2016 at Comforts of Home in Hudson.  John was born August 4, 1924 in Cylon, WI, the son of John Patrick and Honora Angeline (Barrett) Salmon.  John graduated from New Richmond High School, the Class of 1942.  He was united in marriage on June 5, 1954 to Harriet Jonas.  Their marriage was blessed with four children:  Michael, Tim, Joni and Carla.  

John devoted his life to his family and farming.  He was a hard worker always wanting to provide for his family.  He delighted in the peacefulness and bounty of vegetable gardening.  In his family’s earlier years, they enjoyed vacationing and boating on the St. Croix River.  In his quiet time, John was fond of watching television and reading.  He was the oldest member of St. Patrick’s Knights of Columbus.  

John will remain in the hearts of his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Harriet; son, Tim (Roxanne) Salmon of Hudson; daughters, Joni Salmon of Hudson and Carla (Randy) Klawiter of Cadott, WI; granddaughter, Christina (Ben) Skoglund of Seattle, WA; siblings, Barbara Doody, Collette Ruemmele, and Thomas Salmon; as well as many nieces and nephews.  John was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents, John Patrick and Honora Salmon; and siblings:  Eleanor Salmon, Mary Fischer, Rita Salmon, Honora Lynch, Joan Salmon, and Eloise Abbott.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 1:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Interment will take place at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Cylon.  Casketbearers will be Tim Salmon, Randy Klawiter, Ben Skoglund, Jeff Hines, and Mark Loughney. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
