Melvin Allen Blaisdell, age 76 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away April 22, 2021 at the Hammond Health Services.  Melvin was born October 28, 1944 in Red Wing, MN to Norman and Sarah Marie (Hayes) Blaisdell.  He attended Ellsworth High School.  Following his father’s death, Melvin quit school to help support his mother.  They moved to Minneapolis, MN for work.  Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy from April 1965 – August 1969, including service in Vietnam.   On September 18, 1974, Melvin was united in marriage to Lilanne Bungert.  They shared 15 years together.  Melvin owned and operated a Service Station in Minneapolis.  He also drove semi-truck for Warren Transport as an independent owner and operator for many years.  A disability prevented Melvin from continuing his over the road driving, which brought him to retire and he moved back to Ellsworth in 2000.

A mechanic and engineer at heart, Melvin was always building and constructing something.  He was happiest when he was working on home projects.  When he wasn’t busy working, he enjoyed watching old Westerns, a few of his favorites being Gunsmoke and Lone Ranger, and any shows with Chuck Norris.  Melvin appreciated the peacefulness of the outdoors and loved to go fishing, camping and boating.  He also had a special place in his heart for his animal companions, his dogs and cats.

Melvin is survived by his former wife and forever friend, Lil Blaisdell; his dear friend, Thomas Goulette; along with his  nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sarah “Marie” Blaisdell; and his sister, Norma Hanson.

Funeral services for Melvin will take place 11:00 AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, N6450 530th St., Beldenville, with Pastor Lucas Ladnier officiating.  A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment with military honors by the Kinne-Engelhart American Legion, Post 204, will take place at the Our Savior’s Church Cemetery.
