Michael “McQ” McQuiston, age 70 of the Village of North Hudson WI, was peacefully released from Alzheimer’s Disease on 01/26/2024. McQ was born in Minneapolis MN on March 14, 1953 and raised in Forest Lake, MN. He graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1971. He and his first wife, Joan Peterson, raised two children in Forest Lake. In 2000 McQ married Darci Strutt, and moved to the Village of North Hudson WI.
McQ obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 through correspondence training. He worked for 3M in Saint Paul MN for 32 years, ending his career in the 3M Dental Division. Soon after moving, he became active in North Hudson’s Pepper Festival as a volunteer, then Royal Dad in 2004, and Pepper King in 2006. McQ was proud of the work of the Pepper Kings and the support the festival gave to the community. McQ and Darci were selected as Pepper Festival’s “Good Neighbors” in 2015.
McQ loved people and loved nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and time on the golf course with friends or coworkers. He had a heart for service to the community and enjoyed making a difference wherever he could. He will be deeply missed by family and the many friends he met along his journey through life.
McQ is survived by his wife, Darci Strutt; children Jill (Cory) Anderson, and Adam McQuiston; stepchildren Paul (Abby) Otteson, Mike (Becky Rozeboom) Otteson, and Dawn (Hai) Nguyen; eight grandchildren; sister Pat (Dave Nelson) Larson and nephew Chris (Abra) Lindstrom.
He was predeceased by his mother Shirley McQuiston, and father Marlin McQuiston.
A memorial service for McQ will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Hudson United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials are preferred to The Club of Pepper Kings, Saint Croix Hospice, or the Alzheimer’s Association “Team McQ” to honor McQ.
Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI.
With heavy heart I will not be able to attend.
I have a previous commitment with a fundraiser at the North Saint Paul American Legion.
Huggs.
I worked with Mike in Forest Lake many years ago. We enjoyed many rounds of golf together at Castlewood GC. Truly one of the good guys.
Mike was always a joy to work with at 3M. Sorry for your loss of a special guy!
