Polly Wymer

On February 28, 2021, Pauline “Polly” Wymer passed away peacefully at her home on the outskirts of River Falls. After 99 years of raising kids, working numerous jobs in River Falls, including nursing home care, making curtains, and cooking at the high school, she left this earth to follow her passion of serving others on a higher level.

Polly grew up in the Kinnickinnic Valley about 9 miles from River Falls. She was surrounded by her grandparents, parents, and brothers and sisters, most of whom ran dairy farms in the area. Along with her husband Stan, she brought six children into the world, and nurtured them in this wonderful environment of family and friends. She was an excellent cook, who took her children hunting and fishing for their food, and always made a large batch of chili after church on Sunday mornings.

When her children got older. She and Stan moved just outside of River Falls, so they could take advantage of all the extracurricular activities the school system offered. She would live out her days in that very home. After her children left home, Polly graduated to the role of grandma. Her love for all kids went far beyond her own, and allowed her to serve as a grandma to many other kids who adored her. Polly was determined and active, and became sort of an icon around River Falls, where she could always be found walking. She occupied her time doing volunteer work, and was a fixture at the River Falls American Legion Post 121 during blood drives for over 40 years. She was recently recognized as a recipient of the Red Cross Hero’s Award.

Polly is survived by her children, Carl (Jeannie) Wymer, Pat (Duane) Fogerty, Gene (Cathy) Wymer, Bill (Diana) Wymer, Connie (Chet) Rybski, and Pam (Roger) Olson. She is survived by 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Stan.

A private family funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 6 at the First Congregational Church of River Falls.
