Warren Lee

Warren Duane Lee, age 83 years young, of Danbury, WI, formerly of Prescott, WI, entered the loving arms of our Lord on March 26, 2021.  Warren was born to Bert and Dorothy (Doolittle) Lee on March 8, 1938 in St. Croix Falls, WI where he lived and graduated from High School in 1956 and then joined the US Army and was stationed in Revanna, OH. When he came home over Christmas that year he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Barbara Larson on January 2, 1957. The wedding was planned in 8 days and it lasted for a beautiful 64 years.

After Warren’s service in the military, he was employed with Northwest Airlines and then pursued a career in Life Insurance Sales. This landed his family in the small community of Prescott WI, which he called home for 44 years. While living and raising his family he landed a position at the Prescott School District delivering precious cargo, also known as a bus driver. This also allowed him the opportunity to “oversee” the comings and goings of his teenage children. He did this for 28 1⁄2 years, making many memories, and “adopting” sons, daughters, and grandchildren spanning generations of children living within the school district’s boundaries.

Summers were spent hooking up the pop-up camper and shoving all 7 family members in a vehicle headed to a campground that would have to allow him to throw his boat in the water. He spent hours with a fishing pole in his hand gazing over the shimmering waters. The changing of the leaves in the fall meant he was on his way to the Deer Camp which he looked forward to every year. This past November, he dressed in his blaze orange and once again headed for the woods.

Once retirement became a reality, he and his bride decided that winters in Wisconsin were too darn cold. They would spend the next 14 winters in McAllen, TX where they made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. Their “summer” home after leaving Prescott in 2016 found them “north of highway 8” in Danbury WI. In either location you would always find him up for a good game of cribbage, euchre, horseshoes or shuffleboard. Whenever Warren was asked how he was doing, he would always say “Perfect and Improving” which is more true now than ever.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Dorothy Lee; and sister, Bonita (Lee) Swanson.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Lee; children: Brian (Tracie) Lee, Shelaine (Curt) Puttonen, Valerie (Mike) Engstrom, Veronica (Jim) Ford and Gregory (Barb) Lee; 12 grandchildren: Joshua (Jennifer) Lee, Amanda (Willie) Theis, Caitlyn (Tina) Lee, Krysta (Loren) Johnson, Jonathon Engstrom, Laura Engstrom, Lindsay (Josh) John, Dylan (Rheanna) Ford, Dalton Ford, Dayne Ford, Alyssa (Casey) Kusilek and Hunter Lee; 8 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Jack (Shirley) Lee and Daniel (Nancy) Lee.

A Celebration of Warren’s Life will take place Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center in Prescott, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a 11:00 AM memorial service. Military honors presented by the Prescott American Legion will immediately follow the service, with a luncheon following.

Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Prescott (715) 262-5404.  www.oconnellfuneralservices.com
