Charles ‘Chuck’ Goossen

Charles George “Chuck” Goossen, age 82, of Hudson, WI, died on July 12, 2016 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson.

Chuck was born on November 6, 1933 in Rhinelander, WI to parents Chester and Carolee (Churchill) Goossen. He graduated from Rhinelander High School and attended the University of Minnesota earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage on July 19, 1958 to Barbara Onson at the First United Methodist Church in Rhinelander. The couple lived in Great Falls, MT and St. Paul, MN before settling in Hudson in 1962. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Anne, Tom, Mary, Jill and Mark. Chuck worked as a Chemical Engineer at 3M, retiring after 37 years with the company.

Chuck was a patient and kind man who loved spending time with his family, and was especially delighted by his grandchildren. He was fond of trout fishing in the Kinnickinnic River and tending to his garden. He learned to speak Norwegian and taught others to speak it while working at 3M. Chuck was an active member of the Hudson United Methodist Church; serving as chairman of the church board during the construction of the WinterGreen Senior Apartments, and helping with the church Boy Scout Troop, as he was an Eagle Scout himself. He was a skilled woodcarver and enjoyed spending time carving wooden animals and other decorative pieces.

Chuck will remain in the hearts of: his wife of almost 58 years, Barb; children, Mary (Kurt) Becken, Jill (Troy) Jorgenson, and Mark (Jenn) Goossen; grandchildren: Lily and Sean Becken, Scott and Sherry Jorgenson, and Eric and Henry Goossen; brother, John (Royanne) Goossen; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Anne; son, Tom; and his parents.

Memorial Services for Chuck will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Hudson United Methodist Church, 1401 Laurel Ave., Hudson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Hudson United Methodist Church.
