David R. Durnbaugh, age 75, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his home in River Falls, Wisconsin.
David (aka Dave, D2, Quinn, mon, pops, dork, captain, Davey, bud) led a full life. He racked up 16 speeding tickets the year he turned 16. He joined the army out of high school and could tell a tale or two about his time in Korea. He met his wife at the University of Michigan. They didn’t quite make it to their 50th anniversary, but boy did they have some good times. He had a strong work ethic and worked in banking, meat-packing, tech support, and even did a brief stint for the USPS. He provided lovingly for his family. Dogs have been named after him! He once got a perm! He thoroughly enjoyed sports, fishing, his daily crossword puzzles, James Bond movies, wood-working, motorcycles, photography and ruthlessly teasing his kids.
Dave is survived by loving wife Mary, sister Nancy, daughter Maria (Matthew), son Elijah, and 3 grandchildren he adored. A celebration of life will be delayed until spring, contact Maria or the funeral home for details. Donations can be made in his honor to the National Audubon Society: www.audubon.org
Memorial and cremation services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls, www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com, 715-425-5644
We are devastated at learning of this news. Dave was a wonderful human being, father, husband, and friend. Over the years Dave and I had worked together at 3 different companies and we always valued each other’s friendship and advice. Our kids grew up with Dave and Mary always in our lives and we’ll always have those fond memories of the time we spent together. Either building the shop, building my box stalls, going for a ride on our bikes, or leaving divots on the golf course. I’ll always have nothing but fond memories of our time together over the years.
