Erik R. Kindschy, age 29, of Minneapolis, MN (formerly of Hudson, WI) died unexpectedly on May 10th, 2023.

He was a graduate of Hudson High School in 2012 and went on to become an enthusiastic student and constant learner in the school of life.

Erik was a professional line cook at Blondette restaurant in Minneapolis. He had previously and proudly attained the rank of sous chef twice at upscale establishments in the city. He loved to cook for friends and family.

He was a talented musician, and his natural ability for playing guitar was evident at an early age. He played in bands and loved performing for an audience, and was just as pleased to share music in an intimate setting among his loved ones.

Erik enjoyed archery, fishing, and hunting with his family and generally enjoyed being outside in nature with family and friends.

He loved animals of all kinds. Charlie Girl and Mr. Bear were two of his favorite dogs. And he was one of their favorite humans.

He was brilliant and well read, able to strike up a conversation with anyone on numerous, diverse, and even obscure topics. He had a quick wit and his sense of humor ranged from the quiet and dry to the goofy and absurd including everything in between.

Erik will be remembered by all who knew him as a compassionate, kindhearted, caring and giving man who was always willing to give of himself to anyone in need, even if it meant going without himself. He will be terribly missed.

Survived by parents Michelle and Craig Berquist and Neil and Colleen Kindschy; siblings Nikolas, Ben, Becky, and Kevin; Grandmother Nancy Colombo; nephews RJ and Jackson; niece Riley; many cousins; the love of his life, Lindsay Anderson; and countless dear friends.

Preceded in death by Grandfather Gregory Colombo, Grandmother Sandra Mae Horsford, Grandfather Jack Kindschy, and beloved Uncle Tom Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 23 2023, at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson,  Wisconsin with a visitation being held 2 hours prior to the service.

  1. I took Erik to what I’m pretty sure was his first ever “corn field party”. Erik was a Freshman during my senior year, and one Friday night I asked him if he wanted to venture out with me…I was so surprised he took me up on the offer. He hadn’t flourished socially quiet yet, still a little shy and awkward. I could tell he was nervous, as this was unchartered territory, especially to explore with his older sister. Upon arrival he was offered a PBR and a seat by the much too large bon fire. He accepted and became quickly acclimated. It was just a really chill night, and I was so impressed by how much Erik came out of his shell. He so effortlessly meshed with each and every person he met. At the end of the night I received countless kudos for bringing my cool little brother. The rest of that year, I watched him form his group of people, expanding his interests and fighting the status quo with every ounce of his being. For awhile he would wear a bath robe to school… it became his MO. I’ll never forget his kind demeanor and blinding charisma. But it’s ok… because one day we’ll see him again. Rest peacefully my sweet brother. Uncle Erik.
