H. Irene Ellwood, age 96 of Hudson, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away December 21, 2011 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson.  Irene was born August 14, 1915 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ellery and Wanda (Dretsch) Wright.  She was united in marriage on November 14, 1939 in Pequot Lakes, MN to James Morton Ellwood.  Irene and James resided in Minneapolis for 63 years.  While in Minneapolis, they attended Word of Grace Baptist Church.  Irene moved to Hudson in 2006.  She spent her years taking care of her home and family.  Along with her husband, they enjoyed hunting for rocks together and were avid Rock Hounds.  Irene also enjoyed walking, gardening and enjoyed the quiet of reading.  She was also known for her beautiful tatting. 

She is survived by her daughter, Leora Peterson of Rosemount, MN; sons, David (Jane) Ellwood of Hudson and Donald (Christi) Ellwood of Libby, MT; grandchildren, Robert Peterson, Deric (Jennifer) Peterson, William (Adrienna) Ellwood, Emily Ellwood and Jim Ellwood; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kennedy, Cayden and a soon expected great grandson; and step great grandchildren, Nick and Anna.  Irene is preceded in death by husband, James; brother, Robert Wright and her parents. 

Private family graveside services were held at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
