Irene Hamlin

Irene Ann Hamlin, age 93 of Roberts, passed away September 13, 2020 at the Hudson Hospital. Irene was born on February 7, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to John and Pauline (Kurkowski) Sinna. She attended White Bear Lake High School and graduated with the class of 1946. Irene was working at Montgomery Wards when she met the love of her life, Douglas Hamlin. The couple were united in marriage on December 4, 1948 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in North St. Paul. They moved to Shoreview, MN and were blessed with three children, Carol, Mark and Paula. In 1958 the family moved to a farm in Roberts, WI. Irene worked hard to take care of her family and support the farm, including picking her share of rocks from the fields. In retirement, Irene and Doug enjoyed traveling with their camping trailer across the United States, and for many years spending their winters in Mission, TX.

Irene cherished spending time with her family, and loved watching her grandchildren grow and was very proud of them. Irene was fond of crocheting and quilting with her friends at Cross Lutheran Church, where she helped sew many quilts for people in need. She also helped organize food for the church’s bazaar, served many funeral lunches and help out whenever possible. Irene was a member of the Roberts Homemakers and enjoyed flower gardening, and growing and canning vegetables.

Irene will remain in the hearts of her children, Carol (John) Dean of Woodbury, MN, Mark (Jane) Hamlin of Roberts, and Paula (Jason Grinnell) Hamlin of Roberts; grandchildren, Douglas Dean, Diana (Jeremy) Hugo, Marie Hamlin, Indi Hamlin, Elizabeth Webb, Abbie Webb, and Megan Cave; great-grandchildren, Brody Dean, Ava Dean, and Jamison Hugo; sisters, Ruth Reiling, and Marlene Selvog; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents; and brothers, Dennis Sinna, Earl Sinna, and Howie Sinna.

A graveside service honoring Irene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th at the Warren Cemetery, in Roberts. All are welcome to come, social distancing and face masks are encouraged, feel free to bring lawn chairs. Following the service, a lunch will be served at the Hamlin Farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
