Jerry John Huebner

Gerald (Jerry) William Gutting, age 85, of Ellsworth died unexpectedly on July 30, 2022 at his residence. Jerry was born to William and Doris (Hollinger) Gutting on May 26, 1937 in Trimbelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin. He attended St. Francis Elementary School being one of the first classes to graduate from 8th grade from the school! Jerry attended Ellsworth High School graduating with the class of 1955. He enlisted in the Naval Air Reserves serving eight proud years in our country’s military.  Jerry worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a depot agent for 11 years.  On June 18, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Buckner. Their union blessed them with 62 years of marriage and two daughters, Dawn and Kathy.

The best way to describe Jerry was he had an amazing sense of humor. Throughout the trials of life, he always lived by “Just take the hand that is dealt to you”. Jerry was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badger fan. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters as they grew up taking them on trips to their cabin up in Minong, WI, fishing with them and trying to catch the largest fish in the lake! Jerry was an extremely generous person when it came to his time. He was willing to help people with just about anything. Jerry and Betty traveled to 49 states in their 62-years of marriage in a motorhome and the wide-open roads of America. After a 31-year career at 3M, Jerry retired and they became snowbirds to Casa Grande, AZ for the last 26 years.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children: Dawn (Rollie) Koch, and Kathy (Pete) Schommer; grandchildren: Jolene (Chad) Moreau, Alyssa (Alex) Blom, Justin (Jess) Koch, Katelyn (Patrick) Woolcock, Molly Schommer, and Jordan Schommer; great grandchildren: Alana, Alden, Adalyn, Leah, Hannah, and Isaiah.
