Mary Dux

Mary D. Dux, age 81 of Hudson, passed away January 10, 2012 at the Red Cedar Canyon Assisted Living in Hudson.  Mary was born June 4, 1930 in River Falls, WI; the daughter of Harold and Helen (Frantz) Olson.  She attended Hoover Elementary School and Brick Elementary Schools before graduating from Baldwin High School.  She attended Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire graduating in 1951. 

Mary worked at Luther Hospital until she married Harris Dux on December 6, 1952 in Baldwin, WI.  They lived at Fort Atkinson, WI until August 1953 when they purchased the Colborn Cheese Factory in Boyd, WI.  Mary and Harris owned and operated the factory until 1962.  They moved to Hudson, WI in September of 1963.

Mary worked at the Hudson Hospital until retiring in 1992.  After retirement, she was a volunteer at the hospital and Phipps Center.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, yard and garden work.  Mary also cherished her family and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harris; brothers, Richard and Walter.  Mary is survived by her three sons, Rich (Susan) Dux of Roberts, Dan Dux of Woodbury and Mike (Tiffany) Dux of North Hudson; five grandchildren:  Ann (Tim) Magee, Jerry (Jessica) Dux, Adam Dux, Jonah Dux and Kate Jewell; four great-grandchildren, Avary, Charlie, Hannah and Logan; sisters, Ruth Ann (Paul) Junker of Stillwater and Winifred (Bill) Urban of Fennimore, WI; extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service for Mary will be held 11: 00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third St., Hudson.  A visitation will take place from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2012 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 520 S. 11th St.  There will also be a time to greet the family one hour prior to the service at church.  Interment will be private.
