Robert Heebink

Robert “Bob” Cecil Heebink, age 86 of Woodbury, MN and formerly of Baldwin, WI, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Boutwells Landing Care Center in Oak Park Heights MN. Bob was born September 29, 1924 in Baldwin, WI to parents Cecil Albert and Grace (Price) Heebink. Bob was a graduate of Baldwin High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout. Bob served his country in the United States Army, and while stationed at Camp Hood in Texas, he was united in marriage to Shirley Elaine Nelson on April 15, 1944. Their union in marriage would be blessed with three children, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 67 years of love and devotion.

Bob was a third generation owner of the family business, Heebink Lumber & Millwork, which was founded by his grandfather Herman Heebink in 1892. Bob retired and sold the business to his son Michael in 1989. Outside of work, Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, amateur radio, and playing euchre. He especially enjoyed fishing on Lake Superior while away at his cabin. Bob and Shirley resided in Florida for 17 years and enjoyed other travel as well. Together, they went on three Alaskan cruises with their entire family. Bob was a family man, and spending time with his children and grandchildren was his greatest pleasure.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley; children, Jerome Heebink, Joy Heebink, and Michael (Mary) Heebink; grandchildren, Maria (Scott), Stephen, Sarah, Andrew, Kari (Chris), and Amanda (Nate); great-grandsons Jeremy and Jon; sister Maxine Swihart; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Grace; and a brother-in-law, Stan Swihart.

Memorial Services for Robert “Bob” Heebink will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, September 29 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street, in Baldwin, WI with Pastor Lowell Bolstad officiating. Visitation will only be held from 4:00-6:00PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Bob are preferred to the preference of the donor. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434
